Product Description

Red Line's Assembly Lube is designed to be used a lubricant to apply to potential wear surfaces before assembly in order to prevent metal contact upon startup before adequate lubrication is supplied. It provides three times greater film strength than conventional black Molybdenum Disulfide greases and will not clog oil filters. This product clings to all surfaces and is an excellent rust inhibitor, allowing the storage of parts for years. A thin film of protection is all that is required on mating parts. Red Line Assembly Lube will mix with our motor oil and can be used on all lubricated parts such as cams, followers, pistons, and bearings, and bolt threads. Use only a small amount on bearing and piston surfaces - too much can make it difficult to turn over the engine. Red Line Assembly Lube is an excellent corrosion inhibitor and can be used on machined surfaces to provide long-term corrosion protection. It should not be used on exhaust bolts or other high temperature bolts which require an anti-seize.

Red Line's High Temperature Automatic Transmission Fluid is a synthetic ATF which is a GL-4 gear oil for use where Dexron III or Mercon is recommended and is perfect for heavily-loaded vehicles. Its superior stability allows high-temperature operation without varnishing valves and clutches. Synthetic High-Temp ATF provides the gear protection of a GL-4 gear oil in an ATF and provides a higher viscosity at higher operating temperatures, allowing the transmission to operate at 70°F higher temperature and still provide the optimal shiftability and improved torque converter efficiency. The evaporation characteristics are significantly improved, being twice as good as our Synthetic ATF and five-times better than a petroleum ATF. The improved thermal stability significantly reduces the rapid evaporation of the ATF which can produce a frothing out the filler tube. Works for me5
What can I say? I started using Red Line products (oil, rear differential fluid and transmission fluid) in my 1998 Corvette several years ago and have no complaints. I get 31 mpg or so at 65 mph with an automatic transmission. Are better lubricants a factor in that? I don't know, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good stuff and this was the best price I found.

Simply the best oil5
I realize choosing oil vendors is a bit like religion. I'll keep it short by saying that I've owned over 30 cars, modified the engines of 18 of them, and have two cars with seriously modded engines today.

I started using Red Line in 2003 at the recommendation of a good friend. The first time I used it was in my BMW M3 that runs 487HP on the Dyno. When I changed the oil the first time, I was amazed at the condition of it, after 3,000 miles of hard use, it smelled and looked like the day I put it in. Six years later and moving the oil changes out to 6,000 miles, the results are still the same. And I purchased a 7 series L model since and went with Red Line in that one too.

So if you aren't religious about your current brand, give Red Line a try. It may make you a Red Line cult follower. ;-D

Red Line's 85 Plus Diesel Fuel Additive Treatment is designed for use in all diesel engines and contains extremely powerful lubricants, detergents, seal conditioners, fuel stabilizers and rust preventatives, but without smoke suppressant. Red Line 85+ contains additional cetane improvers which boost the fuel 5-9 cetane numbers and additional lubricants which reduce wear in low sulfur fuel by 75%. This stuff actually works. I have a new 2007 Duramax with only 5000 miles. I put in the additive and the truck ran quieter with an increase of 1.5-2 miles per gallon. Well worth the money when fuel is $4.75 a gallon.

Good, but no miracle worker3
I have used this product on and off. I have not seen a noticeable increase in mpg, however I have noticed more "pep" in my 2005 Dodge Ram Diesel. I will continue to use it about every 3rd or 4th tank.

I did not se any increse in mpg, but using it gives me peace of mind that my fuel is lubricated enough, and it is keeping the injectors cleener.

Have been using Red Line oil for many years in many different applications from race cars to daily drivers. I just recently purchased some of this D4 ATF to replace the Toyota T-IV in my 2006 camry SE. Did a complete flush. WOW!! I didnt know this car could shift any better. I am very confident in this fluid and have see it perform time and again here in the hot phoenix summers.

Heat is the #1 enemy in any auto transmission and this fluid addresses this issue by allowing them to run much cooler. My trans is running about 20 degrees cooler than before the flush. Very happy with this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking to reduce wear, extend drain intervals and reduce heat and at the same time possibly improve shift characteristics.

Best and most cost-effective product of its type5
Short version:

Among all fuel system cleaners I'm aware of, Redline SI-1 contains the highest quantity per dollar (based on manufacturer MSDS) of the critical fuel-system-cleaning compounds known as polyether amines (PEA). Primarily for this reason I believe SI-1 to be the best available and most cost-effective fuel system cleaner product at retail pricing. At the current price per bottle when bought by the case right here on Amazon ($5.30) it is a bargain.

In my case it has not been necessary to use Redline's recommended quantity of approximately 3 oz per fill-up. The effects of 1 oz per fill-up are indistinguishable in terms of tested results (see my basis for this statement below). This results in an approximate cost of $0.35/tank or less than a tenth of a penny per mile. A full case at this usage rate is enough to treat 180 full tanks of fuel or to last approximately 80,000 miles. (Figures based 15gal/tank, 25-35mpg).


Long version:

As far as I know, every effective fuel system cleaner on the market uses a class of compounds known as polyether amines (PEA), in varying proportions, to effectively clean deposits from fuel system components, and particularly from fuel injectors, which can quickly impact engine efficiency and performance when not operating correctly. My understanding is that these compounds were first developed by Chevron and sold under the Techron name, and have since been made available to other blenders of fuel treatment products. Until recently BG 44K, Chevron Techron Concentrate, Gumout Regane Fuel System Cleaner, Amsoil P.I. Performance Improver Concentrate, and Redline SI-1 (among others) listed polyether amines on their Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in proportions varying from approximately 25% to 50%. Most of these products no longer list PEA on their MSDS, having changed their terminology to disguise the precise nature of their products' constituent components. Whether PEA is still contained in those products is a matter of uncertainty. As of this writing Redline's SI-1 MSDS still specifies that the product contains 30-50% PEA. Consequently it is one of the few remaining fuel system cleaner products that undoubtedly does contain PEA in significant quantity.

I have been able to test the efficacy of fuel system cleaners in one of my own vehicles using a method I stumbled on after having its injectors professionally cleaned while out of the vehicle. The car in question uses a Bosch engine management system that reports fuel injector data to an on-board computer, which then uses that data to calculate and report instantaneous and average mpg to the driver. I noted after the professional cleaning that the accuracy of the reported mpg, when used to measure average mpg over each full tank of fuel, improved suddenly from a prior error of around -3% - -5% (that is, the reported mpg was ~3-5% below the actual mpg, or typically just over 1mpg low) to an error as close to zero as I could measure (that is, usually between -1% and 1%, fluctuating above and below a perfect "match"). This can be explained on the basis that the engine management system will compensate for a dirty injector by holding the injectors open slightly longer during each combustion cycle, in order to admit the proper amount of fuel. The on-board computer interprets that as a slightly higher rate of fuel consumption, reporting a lower-than-actual mpg figure.

After several thousand miles - not long - the perfect mpg accuracy I'd noticed began to deteriorate, likely indicating that the cleaned injectors were beginning to suffer from some sort of renewed impedance to fuel flow. Out of a desire to retain near-perfect injector performance, and also out of curiosity, I started experimenting with various commercially-available fuel system cleaners and keeping records of the results at each fill-up.

Leaving out the long details, I'll simply say here that the results were surprisingly clear and unambiguous. Each time I went several tanks without using a fuel system cleaner (usually as a result of simply forgetting to use it or not taking the trouble), the on-board computer (OBC) accuracy would deteriorate. This would fluctuate from tank to tank, of course, as a result of inevitable measurement errors, but the trend was very clear even over a small number of fill-ups. Returning to the use of a fuel system cleaner (Chevron Techron Concentrate, Gumout Regane or SI-1, all of which at the time did contain PEA), the accuracy would improve again very quickly - within 2-3 fill-ups. I began using the SI-1 exclusively seven months ago based on its apparent cost-effectiveness and since then I have reduced the quantity I use in each tank to the current 1oz per ~15gal fill-up. The results remain unambiguous. If I use this small amount of SI-1 consistently, the accuracy of the on-board computer is excellent, with an average error of below 1%, or a fraction the error rate seen when not using such a product.

Based on the above I feel I can confidently conclude that SI-1 works very well, even at reduced treatment rates, at keeping fuel injectors clean. Fuel system types and injectors will vary, and other parts of the fuel system - for example intake valves and combustion chambers - might benefit from higher treatment rates (or, conceivably, might not benefit at all). Actual engine efficiency will not vary nearly as much as injector cleanliness, since the engine feedback system normally corrects for imperfect injector flow rates. However, as the flow is more greatly impeded, or impeded differentially among the individual injectors, mpg will be affected to some degree. I feel it is well worth the tiny cost to consistently use a small quantity of SI-1. Other benefits, such as to combustion efficiency as a result of combustion chamber cleanliness, to volumetric efficiency as a result of intake valve cleanliness, and to fuel system lubrication, probably exist as well although I can not evaluate them and have not attempted to do so. Other fuel system cleaners may work as effectively, or nearly as effectively, but I do not believe them to be as good in terms of value per dollar spent.

In my experimentation I did try some less expensive fuel system cleaners, those not containing PEA. They appeared to have no effect. I can not categorically state that only PEA-containing fuel system cleaners work, of course, but my observations did match the conventional wisdom on this point. I also experimented with using top-tier fuels only, without any additional fuel system cleaners. The results were the same as when using non-detergent (Costco and others) fuels. I don't doubt that top tier fuels contain small amounts of cleaners and will keep a fuel system functionally and acceptably clean, but the quantities involved are reputed to be tiny and my observations seem to indicate that even a small amount of additional additive is far more effective.

CV-2 contains an organic moly and is for wheel bearings, high angle and conventional CV joints, chassis lubrication and high temperature, high speed industrial equipment. The exceptional extreme- pressure performance and the fluidity of the synthetic oil allows increases in bearing life of 200% to 800%. Red Line CV-2 Grease will retain its consistency and extreme-pressure performance under high- temperature and high-shear conditions for extended periods, which extends the performance ranges of the lubricated components. Red Line CV-2 will darken after high-temperature use; this darkening will not detrimentally effect the performance of the grease. Although Red Line CV-2 is compatible with small amounts of many petroleum-based greases, it is always good lubrication practice to thoroughly clean out the old grease to eliminate abrasive particles and to minimize the possibility of grease incompatibility.

I used this product in my 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX (Sedan)(manual transmission). I actually had to return this product and get the Red Line 75W90 NS. If you are looking to put this fluid in your car, I would recommend contacting Red Line directly to make sure you are using the right product for your application...before you purchase it. Read the label on the bottle to make sure it is used in the proper manner. It is a great product!
The product does help with allowing the car to shift cleaner.
The shifting feels "lighter". Would recommend!

The product makes the truck run quieter, and for 2000 miles has increased the fuel mileage to 15MPG from 12 MPG when towing, to 17MPG solo. Seems too good to be true but am still checking the mileage.

Excellent solution to improve combustion and lower smoke.5
I've had a problem, especially in colder months, with the white smoke from a cold engine. As I frequently have to idle my truck while loading and unloading, this was a real drag for myself and whoever had the misfortune to be helping me. Since I had an older truck, I thought that there was nothing I could do, especially in light of the low-sulfur fuels that are now in use. However, one bottle, which is a bit more than they said would do the trick, but who's counting, and the smoke is gone. It's going into every tankful from hereon out. It adds five bucks to a tank, but worth it if I get better gas mileage, less water, and no smoke(!).
I think this might be the first fuel product that has done anywhere close to what was stated on the bottle.

Redline Shockproof4
I recently replaced the differential in my BMW 328 with a lower ratio and went from an 'open' to 'limited-slip' configuration at the same time. I've exclusively ran Red Line drivetrain lubricants since purchasing my vehicle in 2002 with excellent results. I expect no problems with Shockproof. Thus far, the differential has been very smooth and quiet, with excellent driveshaft to axle power transfer both around corners and in straight line acceleration. I typically change gearbox and differential fluid every 24 months (even though now, on new car purchases, since BMW foots the bill for maintenance, BMW suddenly says those fluids never need replacing, even though in previous years on the same model car BMW included and charged for changing of differential and gearbox fluids in periodic maintenance schedules) and will continue to use Redline products for my maintenance.
